There are many ways that people can support us in ministry while we are in Croatia. We need prayer, financial, and emotional support. Please prayerfully consider ways you might partner with us.

Pray Prayer Letter
Prayer is essential for life and ministry. God desires to communicate with us through His word and prayer. We would appreciate your prayers for our family and the ministry he has called us to in Croatia. If you want to know how to pray for us, we send a weekly prayer update via email to those who request it. As a bonus, it also has our Picture of the Week. To request it, click on the miniature prayer letter to the right.

Join Us
SEND International is actively recruiting laborers to join God's work in Croatia. There are opportunities for teams and individuals to come for short-term ministry trips and for career service. For more information, visit the Croatia Opportunities page on the SEND website.

Financial Support

Promise Form

There are multiple ways to directly support us financially.
Regular Support

We need ministry partners who will make a faith promise to contribute regularly to SEND on our behalf. It is the monthly, quarterly, and annual support that keeps us in Croatia doing the work to which God has called us. These funds are what pay our salary, medical insurance, work expenses, and other similar ongoing ministry costs. With inflation and the fluctuation of exchange rates our monthly support need is periodically reviewed by a third party and adjusted by the SEND office.
Funds designated to our account (168877) and sent to SEND without specification on how to be used will default to this account. Individual contributions offset lean months when our faith promise partners are unable to send their support.
If at any time we are over-supported, the extra funds go into a pool system from which our under-supported colleagues draw for salary and housing. We draw from that same fund when we are under-supported. This system keeps us and our collegues on the field and focused on ministry inspite of a few financially bad months.
You can download a promise form by clicking on the miniature promise form above.

Special Support
Even if financial support cannot be committed on a regular basis, it still keeps us on the field and in ministry. Unscheduled contributions help keep us fully supported even when a regular supporter is unable to fulfill their faith promise.
In addition to regular support, at times we need project funds. Project funds are used for expense that are beyond the scope of normal support but are approved by our superiors. Some examples are:

Setup
Project funds are how our home has been furnished in Croatia.

Vehicle
Project funds paid for the purchase of a vehicle for our use.

Education
Language school for Mike and Brenda is paid for from project funds.
Office Equipment
Our computer was purchased with SEND funds. When it eventually needs replacement, project funds will pay for that.

If you would like to make a special contribution rather than committing to regular support, please indicate Project Funds on our support form when you send it in.
Both of the above support methods are tax deductible because SEND International has complete discretion of how the funds are spent. If you would like to send us a personal gift, you may do that too, and we would enjoy it, but it is not tax deductible. However, SEND can process the gift if you mail it to them and mark the contribution form indicating that it is personal.
Note: We currently have no open project, so this is not an option. Please check with us before attempting to contribute to this.

You can also support us indirectly through tax deductible contributions to SEND International projects and operations.

The first option for indirect support is through the SEND Croatia projects that are listed on the SEND.HR website. For more information on supporting SEND International - Croatia with a contribution to the project or Ministries Fund, please contact the Croatia branch office. Contact information is here. Ask for Steve.
For information on supporting SEND International as a whole, please visit the giving page on the SEND website. If you are not sure which of the SEND International projects you would like to support, I would recommend the software upgrade that is needed in the US office. Having formerly worked in the information technology field, I understand how vital, if not glamorous, such a system upgrade can be.
Tithe

All Christians should be supporting the ministry of their local church. Some churches, like our own home church, support missions through designated giving to a missions fund. Please consider supporting the general and any missions funds that your home church has.

Emotional Support

We really do appreciate cards, letters, and care packages in the mail. If you feel like putting something in the mail, we'd love to hear from you that way. It's so much more fun than email! For safety, we don't have our address listed anywhere on this site. You can ask for our home address by emailing us through our online form or you can send packages to the branch office.

On June 15, 2007, the McCollum family arrived in Zagreb, Croatia. Croatia is a country with a long history of calling itself Christian but with few who actually know Christ as their savior. The McCollum family believes God has called them to teach the people of Croatia what it truly means to be followers of Christ.

Once they finish formal language school, they will serve on a church planting team with other missionaries and Croats. Church planting, or starting churches, is a core aspect of SEND International ministries:

Starting churches where there are none and helping them where there are by
Evangelizing the unreached,
Nurturing disciples, and
Developing leaders from among the national people.

On their journey to Croatia, one elderly pastor shared his story of a life well lived for the glory of God. This has become a growing passion for the family as they begin serving in God's work in Croatia.

After years of preparation, the McCollum family is glad to be where God has called them. Although right now their relationships are limited by language, they look forward to the day when they can communicate clearly with Croats and actively engage in ministry.
